If you don't already have an AirTag, you should consider buying one, the Washington, DC police says. The reason is as simple as possible: thieves are trying to steal anything, and the latest trend is running away with premium Canada Goose jackets.
Some of these jackets can cost more than $1,000, so thieves want them by all means, sometimes turning to Hollywood-style robberies to get their hands on a jacket.

The local media is reporting that the number of thefts involving Canada Goose jackets has skyrocketed overnight, especially after the winter's debut. More people get these premium jackets, so thieves have plenty of targets to choose from, sometimes even stealing the premium goods at gunpoint.

Yes, you've heard it correctly, the thieves are willing to do anything to get a premium jacket, not for themselves but to resell them at half the price.

The DC police have a very simple advice: get an AirTag. Apple's pill-shaped device can be planted inside the jacket and provide valuable information about its location. The AirTag can then help the officers locate the jacket and the thief, eventually conducting an arrest and helping you recover the expensive coat.

Apple's AirTag is a small device powered by a CR2032 battery and offers a six-month battery life. It doesn't connect to the Internet directly but looks for nearby iPhones to broadcast its location to the master device. The AirTag can transmit its coordinates as long as there's an iPhone in proximity, so if you hide the device in your jacket, it needs an Apple device to let you know where it is.

The AirTag has already become a must-have device for car owners, as hiding the tracker in the cabin paid off for people whose vehicles got stolen. Police recommend owners to report the theft the second they observe the vehicle is missing, as the thief wouldn't have enough time to look for the AirTag and disable it.

Not long ago, the Washington, DC police gave away AirTags to car owners to fight the growing theft numbers, telling owners to pair the device with their smartphones and look for vehicle locations regularly. The new advice for Canada Goose jacket owners is living proof that law enforcement sees AirTags as must-have devices regardless of the product you own, as they help track down a thief in record time.

It's the best time to purchase an AirTag, as Apple has recently discounted the tracker's price by 7% on Amazon. It now costs $27 instead of $29. However, you're getting a much better deal for the AirTag 4-pack, which can be yours today with a 19% discount. The four AirTags are down to $79.99 from the regular $99 price tag. It's the same offer Apple had in stores on Cyber Monday, and it's unclear how long it remains available.
