OK, we will admit the Audi R8 is not really a supercar, it’s more of a fancy-looking Porsche 911 with a big V8 in it. But it’s very cool, at least for the people who, like us, can’t afford it. Even if we lead you on a bit, the next story is still really interesting. As some of you might have heard, the guy behind Youtube channel “supercarsoflondon” recently bought himself an Audi R8, a really cheap one with lots of miles on the clock.
He’s not rich like some other spotters out there, which is why his story is so interesting. Can you believe you can buy the R8 with the money you get from chasing Ferraris around London all day? Talk about doing what you want and living the dream!

Anyway, we’ve all seen the used R8 ads on the internet. Some of them are cheaper than a new S3 or TT, which is amazing for a car that’s still in production today. The reality of actually buying one of those R8 and living with it is a little less romantic though. supercarsoflondon wanted to simply film himself putting fuel in his beloved Audi for the first time. What was supposed to be a simple job became a total fiasco. The gas cap is stuck and our supercar-loving friend presses the button so hard that it collapses into the door.

With virtually no fuel in the tank, he gingerly drives it to a repair shop where the mechanic gives him an interesting piece of plastic hardware. From now on, the R8 owner will have to use a plastic panel remover to pry open the gas tank. Just because it’s German doesn’t mean it won’t surprise you.

Oh and if you’re wondering how much an R8 fuel stop costs, £104 (about $150) worth of Tesco’s finest is require to quench the thirsty and misbehaving beast.
