The first of many 2012 Chevrolet Colorados has been produced today in Thailand, where GM has located its manufacturing capabilities. The pickup in question was a LTZ extended cab model fitted with an all-new 2.8-liter Duramax turbo-diesel engine, basically as good as it can get.
GM Vehicle Line Executive for Midsize Trucks Brad Merkel and Chevrolet Colorado Chief Engineer Roberto Rempel placed a “Colorado # 1” license plate on the initial vehicle in recognition of the manufacturing team’s success. IT was applauded by the facility’s 3,500 employees and key suppliers.
GM says there are 26 combinations of Colorado models, powertrains, cabins, and ride heights. The pickup will indeed be sold in all three variants for the body: single-, extended- and crew-cab, in high- and low-stance configurations, wide- and narrow-body options, as well as two- and four-wheel-drive. The engine range consists of two all-new Duramax turbo-diesel engines.
