Burnout contests can be pretty difficult to judge. Sure, one can steal some arbitration inspiration from the drifting world, where smokey shenanigans are easily categorized, but things are still not that easy in the end. Well, you can definitely tell you’re holding a mighty hot burnout contest when a fire truck is dispatched to it!
This is precisely what happened over the weekend, when such and event was treated with a fire brigade intervention. You can see the action in the clip below, which comes from 1320 video.

The tire-melting business was so serious that the smoke reportedly traveled 2 miles, reaching an interstate. People started calling 911 and soon the boys arrived on the scene to take care of the expected flames.

This is where the story turned from smokey to funny, with the firemen apparently not understanding the purpose of this practice. The participants, some of which had blown hoses, did their best to explain while turning your rear tires into smoke is totally worth the money.

The firemen obviously pulled out the “is this legal” card, but the participants had their Joker on hand, namely the “private property” label.

After all, the contest did include some mean burnout acts, one of them involving nothing less than a couch. Amusingly enough, the diesel fumes coming from the truck supporting the couch may have just won the competition.
