Yup, you heard that right - General Motors decided to enhance both comfort and driving dynamics on the 2015 GMC Sierra Denali by fitting electronically controlled dampers, a segment-first on a full-size truck.
Basically, magnetic ride control provides the GMC Sierra Denali with more precise body motion control which ultimately translates to a more refined ride quality while maintaining payload and trailering capability. The gizmo comes as a standard on all Sierra Denali half-ton models, equipped with both the 355 horsepower 5.3-liter V8 or 420 horsepower 6.2-liter V8.

“With magnetic ride control, the Sierra Denali delivers a smoother, more confident driving experience without sacrificing the capabilities customers expect from a GMC truck,” said Jeff Luke, GMC executive chief engineer. “The responsiveness of the system makes this full-size truck feel and drive like a luxury vehicle – and one that’s more comfortable on long trips, especially when trailering.”

In case you were wondering, the 2015 model year GMC Sierra Denali has a maximum payload of 1,940 lbs in four-wheel drive 5.3-liter 5'8'' box guise and a trailering capacity of 9,400 lbs for the rear-wheel drive 5'8'' box model powered by any of the two eight-cylinder engines available at the moment.

General Motors' third-gen magnetic ride control features sensors that read the road multiple times per second, triggering damping changes in the electronically controlled shock absorbers in as little as five milliseconds.

Compared to yesteryear's mechanical-valve monotube Rancho shocks, these units are filled with magneto-rheological fluid that contains iron particles. These particles align to provide more or less damping resistance by changing the fluid's viscosity under magnetic charge.

Also new on the 2015 GMC Sierra Denali is the OnStar 4G LTE system with built-in Wi-Fi connectivity. Offered exclusively as a crew cab, the GM-made pickup truck is adorned with signature chrome detailing, projector headlamps and LED daytime running lights, 20-inch chrome wheels and body-color front and rear bumpers.

“Denali has earned a reputation for uncompromising refinement with capability after more than 15 years of premium vehicles that take truck and SUV ownership experiences to higher levels,” stated Duncan Aldred, vice president of GMC Sales and Marketing. “It’s a symbol that embodies the finest of GMC’s engineering, technology and attention to detail.”
