A special concept car designed by... everyone has finally made its appearance at the Sao Paulo Motor Show this year. Called the Fiat Mio (My Fiat), the concept was born out of the collaboration of more than 11,000 design concepts submitted by almost 17,000 participants to the project.
Looking a bit like the Mitsubishi i-MiEV, the car has a gigantic wrap-around screen and a short wheelbase. In fact, with a length of just 2489 mm (8 feet and 2 inches), a cute face that seems to be smiling at the corners and a panoramic glass roof, it looks like something out of a Japanese Anime to us.
"Designed for a world where the driver can be simply a passenger and can have the vehicle controlled through intelligent means,” as Fiat describes it, the concept is meant to inspire us and give us a glimpse into the future the automaker envisions. The title of Fiat Concept Car III (FCC III) attributed to the Mio might also indicate future design trends for the company.
Fiat says the web-based project has attracted a lot of attention from over 2 million viewers in 160 countries, showing the world it is ready for changes in the way new cars are designed.
Despite this being just a design concept, we can envision parts of its unique features making their way into a future Fiat electric city car. The online collaborators to the project also suggested that this vehicle should be built like a clean, eco-friendly one, with a number of technological features such as mobile-phone integration, multimedia player, GPS, head-up display and touchscreen controls.
