The Fiat 500L, a longer and more practical version of the popular 500 two-door, first broke cover back in February, with a couple of official pictures. Well, with its October delivery deadline looming, and the European order books opening this month (mid-2013 in the US), Fiat have released a considerable amount of official pictures, for us to have a better look at the four-door 500L and get a better idea of what it’s about.
The car’s exterior, while not as successful as that of the normal car, is still pleasant to look at, and the Serbian-built 500L will definitely be seen as a ‘different’ choice, an alternative to more mainstream rivals like the Romanian-built Ford B-Max, Opel / Vauxhall Meriva and even the Honda Jazz/Fit which is more MPV than supermini.
Under the bonnet, the 500L will be powered by a selection of petrol and diesel engines, with each and every engine making sense in its own right, depending on customer needs and preferences. The range includes the 875cc TwinAir engine, with either 85 or 105 hp, a 1.4-liter petrol without a turbo (as well as a possible inclusion of a turbocharged version), and finally, Fiat’s tried and tested 1.3-liter MultiJet diesel which delivers 75 or 95 hp, in its latest versions.
