Fiat 500 Thousandth Showcar Created by People

Celebrating the 500,000 units milestone reached recently at its plant in Poland, Italian manufacturer Fiat launched a new project which will see the brand creating a special showcar with the help of its customers. Specifically, the body of the Fiat 500 Thousandth car will be entirely covered by 1,500 photos displaying the faces of 500 owners, celebrities and fans of the Fiat 500 model.

Those who wish to participate in the project can log on to the special dedicated website and use the special application showing a plan view of the Fiat 500. After registering, they can book one of the free spaces online by sending a photo.

Moreover, they can also attach a short text describing their relationship with the car or a link either to a personal video on YouTube or to their personal Facebook page.

According to Fiat, the showcar will be ready three weeks after the booking stage is completed.

“The Fiat 500 is truly “a car created by the people, with the people's ideas”. Today, the fiat500.com is a community of 120,000 active users from 206 different countries who take part in over 30 online activities. The pages have been browsed nearly 240 million times,” a company statement reads.

The Fiat 500 web page also features many other creative initiates, including “C MYSTERY”, the first multimedia story game created to support the launch of a car, and “500 words.” Other features include a mobile version (m.fiat500.com) and the fun "My 500C" application for configuring a 500C on Facebook. There is also an application dedicated to the 500C for iPhone and iPod touch, dubbed Be Open!.
