Although most people think of Dubai as a giant oil-producer, the country gets most of its revenue from tourism. So, naturally, a theme park dedicated to the enjoyment of all Ferrari fans is right up their alley.

As we previously reported, Ferrari’s theme park was to be unveiled to the public today. Unfortunately, due to the passing away of Sheik Saqr bin Mohammed Al-Qasimi, Emir of Ras al-Khaimah, this was postponed. Consequently, Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, the first theme park of it’s kind, was instead presented to the international press.

The theme park’s main attraction is a roller coaster that can accelerate from 0 to 62 mph in nearly two seconds and on to a top speed of 150 mph (240 km/h). The ride, meant to replicate the intense strains driving an F1 car puts on the body, can pull up to 1.7 Gs during acceleration.

Though you can’t beat that for out and out terror, there are a lot of other rides for people who don’t want to be scared to death. One such attraction is a 4-D cinema, called “Speed of Magic”, that takes you on an adventure through jungles and icy caves. The developers have gone to great lengths to recreate everything from parts of the Maranello factory, to a Ferrari racing “Paddock” and “The Pit Wall”.

All of this takes place under the enormous 200,000 square meter roof (2,200,000 sq ft), making Ferrari World the largest indoor theme park ever. Even the Prancing Horse logo on the top is a new record setter, covering a total of 86,000 square meters (930,000 sq ft).

The price of admission is 225 AED (approximately $60), but expect to spend a lot more on Ferrari T-shirts and accessories.
