Ferrari President Demands Victories in 2010

Ferrari's president Luca di Montezemolo urged his team to return to its winning ways in the Formula One championship, as this is the second consecutive season the Italian team doesn't seem to fight for the titles in the series.

Whilst some media reports suggested that Ferrari may switch focus to the 2011 car from as soon as possible, Di Montezemolo wants nothing to hear of that, as he believes there are still chances to walk away with a title this season. Fernando Alonso is currently 47 points behind championship leader Lewis Hamilton in the drivers' standings, while Ferrari trails McLaren Mercedes by 113 points.

Crying is useless: we are Ferrari and it's time to show it with results on the track. I want the team to face the second half of the season in a positive way,” said Di Montezemolo in an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, echoing the comments of 2-time world champion Fernando Alonso after the race at Silverstone.

We have gone through harder moments than this one, and we have come through, but it's clear we must not waste any more opportunities like the ones we have missed for various reasons over the last two races, despite having a competitive car.

These days qualifying and race starts become decisive moments: we must improve on these two fronts if we want to win. I expect everyone to give 100% in order to bring home the points we have lost thus far,” added the Italian boss.

The same publication asked Ferrari's team principal Stefano Domenicali of the prospect of switching to the development of the 2011 challenger, but he also suggested the title fight for 2010 is not over.

(We will) continue to push on the development of the F10. Clearly, the championship situation is looking complicated but we remain convinced we can still fight for the title,” said Domenicali.
