Ferrari Announces Updates for Malaysian GP

Ferrari's Stefano Domenicali revealed on Tuesday, via a statement on Ferrari's official site, that he is personally satisfied with the results scored by his drivers in the Australian Grand Prix, “even if, on Sunday morning, we might have expected a slightly better one.”

We are happy with the Melbourne result. Considering what happened in the race, we can be pleased with finishing third and fourth, partly because our closest rivals either failed to score, or at least did not pick up many points,” said the Ferrari boss.

Previewing the Malaysian Grand Prix this weekend, the Scuderia is expecting a tough race on Sunday, especially with the high temperatures usually recorded at the Sepang International Circuit. Despite the fact that torrential rain is once again forecasted for this weekend's action, the Prancing Horse confirmed it will update their F10 in order to suit the characteristics (weather-related only) of the Malaysian GP.

Sepang provides a challenging track, with the added difficulties of coping with very hot conditions and extreme humidity, two factors which can have a debilitating effect on both car and driver. With that in mind, the F10s will have some further updates aimed at dealing with the unique characteristics of this event,” said the Ferrari press release, hinting that competing under heavy rain is currently regarded as a Plan B for the Scuderia.

Shortly after the Bahrain GP - which features weather characteristics similar to the ones in Malaysia - Ferrari had announced they will develop their aerodynamic package in such a way that it will improve engine cooling in the races to come.

Ferrari will be looking for a great result at Sepang this weekend, especially given the victorious tradition of the red cars on the Malaysian circuit. The team won the very inaugural race here in 1999, with Eddie Irvine, while repeating that feat 4 times in the upcoming 10 years. Additionally, the Scuderia's Fernando Alonso won the Malaysian race 2 times in the past, while at Renault and McLaren.
