Ferrari 458 Spider Set for 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show Debut

Things are looking good for the Italian manufacturer Ferrari, a fact revealed by the record sales levels and by the eager desire of launching new models. The first model to be launched will be the long-awaited 458 Spider, which is the convertible version of the amazing 458 Italia. One of the 458’s coolest features is expected to be a new automated folding hard-top which will replace its predecessor’s soft-top.

The brand new model is expected to make its debut at this year September’s 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show before it will hit the showrooms in Europe the same month. Also worth mentioning the fact that it will enter the US market early next year. The new 458 Spider might be a bit slower due to the extra wight added by the automatic mechanism. Furthermore, the supercar will receive the same 570 horsepower and 400 pound-feet(approx. 542 Nm) of torque form a 4.5-liter V-8 found in the hard top, according to Automotive News.

Ferrari plans the replacements for the 599 GTB Fiorano and the Enzo to be launched the next year. The Enzo successor is expected to be called F70, and it is being tested with two very different powertrains. One option is considered to be a twin-turbo V-8 engine expected to put out around 700hp and the other version will be a V-12 unit with an additional 100 hp.
