Felipe Massa Will Recover at Home

Felipe Massa will continue his recovery from the Hungarian Grand Prix accident in the comfort of his own home, as confirmed by a statement released by Scuderia Ferrari late yesterday. According to the Maranello based team, the Brazilian driver passed all tests conducted at the Albert Einstein hospital of Sao Paulo on Monday and is recovering very well.

Although he was expected to travel to Paris during the course of this week in order to start his recovery treatment under French orthopedic surgeon and FIA doctor Gerard Saillant, Massa's personal doctor Dino Altman revealed his patient's rehabilitation will take place in Brazil.

Felipe has had a remarkable recovery. We did a series of in-depth tests and the outcome is very encouraging so that we, together with the hospital's medical staff, decided that it wouldn't be currently necessary to further intervene from a surgical point of view,” said Altman on Ferrari's site.

The best thing for him now is to go back home, where he can calmly convalesce and rehabilitate,” added the Italian doctor.

A few days before leaving the AEK hospital in Budapest for Brazil – via a private jet – Massa gave his first interview for Ferrari after his unfortunate accident at the Hungaroring. While admitting he doesn't remember anything that happened in the qualifying session, he did admit he looks forward to making a rapid return to the Ferrari F60 cockpit.

I'm feeling much better now and I want to recover as soon as possible to get back behind the wheel of a Ferrari," added the Brazilian.
