Felipe Massa Takes Ferrari F2007 to the Track at Mugello

As promised by Ferrari's CEO Luca di Montezemolo, Felipe Massa was offered the possibility to do one more test on a 2-year old Ferrari F1 challenger prior to the Christmas holidays. The event took place on the Mugello circuit, with Massa being offered the F2007 drive by the company's Corse Clienti department.

“Felipe Massa had to wait until this afternoon for his very special Christmas present. The Brazilian driver wanted to get back behind the wheel of a Formula 1 single-seater before the end of the year and took the opportunity of his visit to Maranello for the traditional Christmas events over the weekend to accomplish his desire,” wrote the Ferrari official site during the course of this morning.

However, as noted by the same site later in the press release, the bad weather on Tuesday prohibited Massa to drive the F2007 on the track of Mugello from the early hours of the morning. He only got to do a few laps in the afternoon, as he is also to return to Mugello during the course of today to complete his test.

I’m happy that I could get into this car and it’s always a pleasure driving on a track like Mugello. Everything went well: it’s a pity that I could only drive in the afternoon. Let’s hope I can be back tomorrow!” said Massa, who got to drive for around 30 laps on the F2007 (fitted with demonstration tires).

Wednesday will also be the last day Felipe will spend on the European continent, as he is scheduled to return to his native Brazil and join his wife Raffaele and newly-born Felipinho later today. All racing action will be on hold throughout the Christmas holidays at the Maranello factory, with the preparations for the 2010 campaign to resume from early January.
