Evolution of the Audi A3

The new Audi A3 has come a very long way since the release of the first generation, the one bearing the 8L code name. Gone is the rounded, conservative shape of the 1996 model, the car morphing into a much sportier and sharper proposition, right before our eyes in this official video.
The new look of the A3 has been achieved without radically altering the basic shape of the first model (if you notice in the video, the B and C-pillars are basically in the same place), just growing in size a bit, and the addition of a few design tricks to make it look meaner than it really is.

The new generation car, code name 8V, was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show this year and it had a generally positive first reception. It sits on VW’s MQB platform, which will also underpin the future SEAT Leon, Skoda Octavia and the Golf Mk VII, so it’s very important indeed.
