The list of all-time Ferrari models is so great, only true diehard fans of the Italian manufacturer (and there are plenty of them) can claim to know each and every one of them. And then there are the concept cars.
Back in the late 1960s, people seemed to think the future was going to be pointy. And, at least as far as automotive design is concerned, it actually was. That's because a designer's job isn't to predict what's coming, but to shape it, and the people with pencils back then seemed to like angular shapes.

Several examples date back to that decade, both concept and production cars, but few of them are as striking as the Ferrari 512S Berlinetta Speciale. The creation of Filippo Sapino during his short involvement with Pininfarina, the wedge-shaped concept still looks as futuristic now as it did back then, if not even more so.

Its design never really caught on with Ferrari production models - though Sapino did create one of those as well in the 365 GTC/4 - but that doesn't mean its influence has died. In fact, it serves as the focal point of a short (mostly) CGI film released in the first day of this year after what must have been a pretty long collaboration between digital artists Ash Thorp and Carlos "colorsponge", who operate in various fields (film, graphics, music).

Named "Evinetta," it leaves no doubt over the nature of the vehicle's powertrain. Indeed, instead of the 6.0-liter V12 that sat behind the concept's two seats in real life (albeit not really functional), the virtual machine receives the powertrain of a Tesla Model S.

Thanks to the cross-section images, we even get to see the large motor sitting between the two (also large) rear wheels, as well as the battery pack making up the vehicle's floor. All this modeling is unnecessary, but it gives the project more depth and credibility, making it stand out even more than the quality of the execution already did.

Despite the dissections, we can't tell for sure whether the Evinetta uses a dual-motor setup, but it most likely looks as though the front axle is left to deal with the steering alone. Given the low weight of the vehicle and the aerodynamic shape - as well as the wide wheels at the back wrapped in slicks - we doubt an extra motor would be required anyway.

The authors say the goal of the film was to "transform your view of the conventional EV concept" and "share our perspective on what EV vehicles could possibly be in the future." Well, we don't know about that, but if they had said their aim was to "offer you something beautiful to look at that would transport you into another world for a brief 95 seconds," we would have agreed completely. Check out the video below and make sure to browse the gallery as well for plenty of new angles of the Evinetta.
