EV Motorcade on the Streets of Washington, DC

You all know them, but the automotive industry can't get enough of showing them: the EVs. Vehicles that have come to life to revolutionize the automotive industry, vehicles at the center of debate for pro- and anti-green motoring activists, vehicles that will undoubtedly form the back bone of the world's motor pool in the future.

The best of the best from in new segment of the market will be paraded by the Electric Drive Transportation Association (EDTA) through Washington, DC, during the Earth Week, on April 19. The event, called Innovation Motorcade, will see all types of electric vehicles (pure EVs, plug-in hybrids, hybrids, fuel cell, in both car and truck guise), will start at the Department of Energy and end at the Washington Convention Center, where the EDTA Conference Ride, Drive and Charge show will be held.

"We are excited to show consumers and policymakers how many electric drive choices are available and how rapidly innovations are being brought to the market place," said Brian Wynne, EDTA president.

"These cars and trucks, and the technology that supports them, are helping to reduce our nation's dependence on foreign oil, reducing driving costs and pollution, improving our national security and creating advanced energy jobs."

Aside for the cars and trucks to be displayed (approximately 25 vehicles will be on the road), the motorcade and the EDTA show will also be joined by the biggest players on the EV infrastructure market, like Aerovironment, Ecotality or Ener1.

The car makers that will bring their cars to the tour will be Audi, BMW, Coda Automotive, GM, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Tesla, Toyota and Volkswagen.
