In 2009, Dorna decided to switch strategy in terms of MotoGP coverage and gave only the BBC the broadcasting rights of the series, while the British Eurosport would only offer the fans practice and qualifying coverage. While the races were live on BBC, Eurosport had to wait for another hour to show it on air.
“British Eurosport will broadcast the 2010 MotoGP Championship under the same terms as this year i.e. live practice and qualifying sessions, live 125cc and Moto2 races and delayed coverage of the MotoGP race, 1hr after the start,” said British Eurosport EPG & Listings Co-ordinator Rachael Finn to Crash.net.
So once again, Dorna is acting as if the racing fans from all over the world have access to BBC 24/7 and can actually watch the races week in and week out.
While the fans may watch the 2010 MotoGP races with the same enthusiasm as last year, it's likely that the Moto2 series will not raise the same amount of interest within the motorcycle enthusiasts out there. Aprilia just announced that they will not compete in the newly-formed championship because of the engine rules, and KTM will quit the Road-Racing World Championship for good at the end of the year.
Eurosport is yet to announce the broadcasters for the 2010 MotoGP series, but it's likely that Toby Moody, Julian Ryder and Randy Mamola will again team up to offer the truncated coverage of the series throughout the 2010 season.
