German electric mobility company Etropolis announces their new addition to the scooter line-up, the Bel Air Lithium. With such a name, it’s easy to figure out that we’re dealing with a retro-styled two-wheeler. In fact this new machine is an upgrade for the initial gel-battery-powered Bel Air scooter introduced back in the spring of 2012.
The scoot uses a removable Lithium-Polymer 60, 36Ah battery, which takes 3 hours to reach an 80% charging level, or 6 to 8 hours to reach 100%. This battery can propel the scooter with a top speed of 45 km/h (28mph) and comes with a 900-complete cycle lifetime. Obviously, it can also be recycled using a common wall outlet.
With the lithium battery, the Bel Air shaves a lot of weight: the scoot now has a 114 kg (251lbs) dry weight, compared to the 145 kg (320lbs) of the gel battery-powered one. The3kW motor has 3 riding modes: economy, normal and sport, each providing ranges of 110 km (68 mi), 80 km (50 mi) and 60 km (40 mi), respectively on a single charge.
The price is €2,965 ($4,100) and you should know that the Etropolis Bel Air Lithium also comes with a reverse gear to make getting out of tight spaces easier. This machine can climb 20% slopes and is equipped with disc brakes.
