Enter the Coppa Milano-Sanremo

The Coppa Milano-Sanremo, one of the most sought after historic races in Italy, is now open to all those planning to take their race and vintage cars through the streets of Milan, Sanremo and everything in between.

The organizers of the event, MAC Group, announced this week that the entry list is open for all those planning to take part, and will stay like this until February 10. To be eligible, the only thing you have to do is own a race or vintage car manufactured in between 1906 and 1981. Oh, yes, you also need some EUR2,500 to pay the entry fee.

For this year (which is the ninth reiteration of the Coppa Milano-Sanremo), 150 cars are planned to take part in the race, which would take them from Monza to Milan for the official start of the race and then all the way to Sanremo.

"This year's historic commemoration of the Coppa Milano-Sanremo,"
said Geronimo La Russa, Automobile Club Milan vice president. "has a very special meaning. Together with the MAC Group and the main Institutions of Milan and Lombardy, we have decided for the event to be part of the official tributes to the 150th anniversary of the Unity of Italy."

In 2011, the organizers have also set up a special event for Ferrari owners alone. Following the same course as the Milan Sanremo parade, the cars eligible for this event must be registered between 1982 and today.

"This year the race is part of the program of events supported by the Committee for the Celebration of a United Italy returning to symbolically linking Milan, Turin and Genoa, the cities that began the industrialisation of the Italian economy at the end of the 19th century,"
added Sandro Binelli, president of the MAC Group.
