With the final weekend of the present Nurburgring season being just around the corner, the time has come to look back at some of the most attention-worthy Green Hell moments of 2016. So let's focus on some smiles, shall we?
The number of the drivers who lap the Green Hell at less-than-violent pace might surprise you, as not all those who take part in Touristenfahrten (Tourist Days) activities have the ambition to set unofficial lap records. And the piece of footage you'll find below allows you to check out some of the friendliest Nurburgring drivers of this year. Oh, and let's not forget their passengers, some of which appear to be even more enthusiastic that the wheel bearers.

We applaud such approaches, since treating such traffic-burdened Nurburgring laps as races can easily lead to serious crashes - here's an example of what can happen when a Ring driver lets haste get the best of him. Spoiler alert: a Mk II Ford Focus RS gets ruined in the process.

Truth be told, understanding that there's no trophy for those who can get from Bridge to Gantry as quick as possible is an important virtue, one that also allows other drivers to enjoy the track.

Consider the attitude displayed in this video the opposite of what we get to see in the clips showcasing Ring drivers passing while the yellow lights are on.

Nevertheless, some of the driver seat occupants in this piece of footage do end up on the wrong side of the safety behavior, since they decided to pay attention to the camera while traveling at speed.

Taking mechanical or electronic failures into account is crucial when lapping any circuit out there. After all, one of the most spectacular Nurburgring crashes of the year involved an ABS failure that sent Koenigsegg's factory-owned One:1 flying over the protection element on the side of the track. And that's how we ended up having to wait for 2017 to see Angelholm attempting a new lap record run. But that's another story for another time.
