Honda S2000 Driver Ignores Nurburgring Yellow Flag, Gets Reported and Banned

The Nurburgring's Touristenfharten (Tourist Days) events have simple rules, which are aimed at keeping everybody in one piece when the adrenaline rush kicks in. Alas, certain drivers simply can't follow guidelines as simple as a yellow flag requiring one to lap the track at snail's pace.

The latest example of this comes from the guy behind the wheel of the Honda S2000 in the video below. With the yellow flag being accompanied by the much more visible yellow lights, the guy decided to pass other cars who were playing by the rules.

And when the driver of a Mini decided to use the middle of the track, the Honda guy turned to his honk to pass. The man behind the wheel of the F56 Cooper S got out of the way, but he reported the illegal maneuver once both cars completed the lap, entering the Nordschleife parking lot.

Since the Mini driver had everything on camera (you can check it all out in the clip at the bottom of the page), it wasn't too difficult for the S2000 offender to get a ban.

While there's no need to explain the consequences of behavior such as the one displayed by the S2k driver, we'll give you an example of what kind of trouble speeding on a yellow flag can bring.

As a coincidence, the situation we're talking about occurred on the same day - we're dealing with tons of drivers ignoring the yellow flag being waved due to an oil spill on the Brunnchen corner. This obviously caused multiple sliding accidents. And while nobody was injured, one Good Samaritan, who wanted to warn incoming drivers of the slippery danger, almost got run over by a BMW losing control due to the oily track.

As we explained in the story mentioned right above, it's hard to expect full discipline from amateur drivers when we have situations such as the supposed pro behind the wheel of a Porsche 911 GT3 RS Ring Taxi ignoring the yellow flag.

P.S.: As usual, we hope such incidents serve as free lessons for many drivers out there.
