At the EICMA event in Milan back in November 2018, Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati unveiled the MIG-RR, an electric enduro e-mtb that was to become one of the most important such bikes on the market.
A little over a year has passed since the introduction of the two-wheeler, and the Italians have been successfully selling the model on the European market for prices starting at over €6,000. Now, the bike will head stateside.

According to Ducati North America CEO Jason Chinnick, said in an official statement, the MIG-RR will enter the American market targeting mostly existing Ducati owners, some of them professional athletes.

“From road biking to mountain bike, e-assist bikes are really taking off here in North America. I anticipate that will be our first audience,” the executive said.

“And we are also looking at the existing e-mountain biking community and being able to try and capture some of them that maybe already know the Ducati brand but now realize that there’s a product for them.”

The MIG-RR is a variant of the existing MIG lineup, developed together with Italian company Thok E-bikes. It features an aluminum frame with a revised geometry and is powered by a Shimano Steps E8000 system with three levels of assistance, as well as a 504 Wh Shimano battery.

The battery is located below the diagonal tube of the bike to lower the center of gravity and improve handling. Comfort is ensured by Kashima fork and shocks, and the bike rides on differentiated rims fitted with Maxxis DHF tires.

Ducati did not specifically said when the MIG-RR will become available in the U.S., but that probably will happen in the first months of next year. Once available, various versions of it will sell for prices ranging from $4,000 to $7,000.
