As we told you earlier this week, Ducati in preparing a very nice stunt involving an ultra-light, ultra-powerful limited edition version of their already awesome sport bike 1199 Panigale. Dubbed Superleggera (Italian for ultra-lighweight), the new machinery is expected to be an invite-only treat reserved for 500 lucky ducatisti.
One of them is Jim Gianatsis, who runs FastDates Calendar and who is a long-time Ducati fan and rider. So Claudio Domenicali, Ducati CEO, sent him one of the 500 invitations. The new bike is codenamed Project 1201, and Ducati has put up a Superleggera mini-website accessible to the lucky 500 only, as they get login credentials within the official letter.

Jim also got a picture of the special parts which will be used to build the new ultra-lightweight Panigale. We mentioned earlier that the Superleggera will make extensive use of magnesium, carbon fiber and titanium, shaving off around 40 lbs (18 kg) from the already light 1199 Panigale.

This ultra-exclusive bike is rumored to set the lucky owners back with $65,000 (€47,950) a piece. Photos should be appearing anytime now.
