DTM Now Broadcasted in China

The popular touring race car series is growing in importance, not only in Europe, but on other continents as well. According to a statement released by Audi today, the second half of the DTM season will be broadcast on television in China with immediate effect.

The Shanghai Media Group, the second largest free-to-air television channel in China, is to broadcast the five remaining DTM races. Up to 120 million TV households in the People's Republic of China including Macau and Hong Kong and also Taiwan can now follow the races.

Audi also announced the Belgian Audi customer team WRT has lodged a provisional entry for the new FIA GT World Championship in which cars representing the GT1, GT2 and GT3 classes should be united in 2012 in the new ‘GT World Class’. Vincent Vosse’s team plans to enter two cars based on the Audi R8 LMS (GT3).

Moreover, thanks to their success at Spa Audi drivers now also lead the Blancpain Endurance Series. Greg Franchi is new sole championship leader in the long-distance series with 64.5 points. The Belgian is followed in second place by his WRT team mates Bert Longin/Stéphane Ortelli/Filipe Albuquerque who all have 50 points. By winning at Spa Mattias Ekström and Timo Scheider have scored 46.5 points and are third.

Audi R8 LMS also in front in Italy: at the fifth Italian GT Championship weekend the customer sportscar celebrated a one-two and two other podium positions in two races.
