Drop Top Customs specialize, as their name suggests, in turning boring sedans and other hardtop cars into stylish convertibles. The latest ones they`ve done are a Chrysler 300 and a Dodge Charger, which we must admit look quite good sans-top.
Now, though, they`ve taken on a new challenge - chopping the top off the all-new 2013 Cadillac XTS four-door sedan. From the images shown by Drop Top Customs, they are well on their way to stripping out the car, and prepping it for the actual chop job.
We are curious to see how they go about transforming this particular example, which is already quite a handsome looking car, and one of Cadillac’s best in years! If they manage to get a near-factory look with the XTS, perhaps they may start a trend, and we may see even more of these made.
Still, a job such as this requires expert mechanical knowledge and advanced knowledge of structural rigidity, as the car will suffer quite a bit in this respect, once the top is removed. They also need to keep the weight down, as the folding roof mechanism, extra strengthening beams and other features will only weigh the car down, and negatively affect is performance, handling and fuel efficiency.
