The executive will lead the company’s Main Central Marketing Department, taking over from Gerd Mauser, who is leaving Porsche by mutual agreement, with the move becoming effective immediately.
In his new position, Gruner will report to Bernhard Maler, member of the Executive Board for Sales and Marketing of Porsche AG. The executive was previously Head of Strategy at Mercedes-Benz Cars.

His contribution to the successful launch of new products in the markets over the last few years have been crucial and sustainable. In Kjell Gruner we were able to secure a high-profile marketing expert, one who not only has Porsche in his genes, but also has many years of experience in strategic brand development as well as in subjects that are central for our future, such as electromobility,” Maier said.
Gruner is a a marketing expert with a degree from graduate management school WHU Koblenz. His career debuted with the Boston Consulting Group. He joined Porsche in 1999 and worked for the company until 2004, with his responsibilities including, among others, strategic projects, marketing planning and marketing strategy. From 2004 to June 2010, he worked for Daimler AG, with the most recent position being Director of Strategy for Mercedes-Benz Cars. He also collaborated with Renault-Nissan for matters related to e-mobility. On July 1st, the executive became the managing director of the Automotive Institute for Management at the European Business School, but has now joined Porsche.
