Possibly the best BMW tuner in the US, Dinan Engineering launched a hardcore version of the F10 M5 that takes things overboard from the performance point of view. Considering what they did in the past with cars like the E39 M5 and the E82 1M Coupe, it’s hardly a surprise.
Their proposition comes with a special name (“S1 M5”) as well as a ton of extra performance. The S63Tu engine was drastically upgraded to make no less than 675 HP and 644 lb-ft (873 Nm) of torque instead of the ‘flimsy’ 560 HP and 680 Nm (501 lb-ft) of torque the standard model makes. Now the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 is being properly worked.

With the added power and torque, the near-two ton car will do 200 mph (320 km/h) but it also comes with 4 years of warranty within 50,000 miles (80,000 km). That’s there just for your own peace of mind as Dinan’s products usually don’t fail too easily.

“Our goal at Dinan is to build a balanced performance package that maintains the soul of the OEM platform,” said Dinan Engineering President Steve Dinan. “This car is designed to be faster and handle sharper, but still offer the level of refinement that BMW owners expect. M-Car owners already bought the fastest BMW and now it’s up to Dinan to make it even faster”

Of course, to keep up with the added hp, plenty of other changes were necessary. The suspension was completely replaced with Dinan’s own products, from coil-overs to anti-roll bars and even the camber control arms. Under the bonnet, apart from a new ECU map, a Dinan carbon fiber cold air intake was installed as well as a new free flow exhaust.

All of this comes with a price though. Adding everything up (including the interior accessories) the grand total for turning your M5 into a Dinan S1 goes up to $13,487. That’s without the optional 20” wheels that will set you back another $6,450 (including the tires). That means that you’ll have to pay around $20,000 to get your car to look exactly like the one in the gallery below.
