Di Resta Better than Vettel - Franchitti

Triple IndyCar champion Dario Franchitti believes Paul di Resta is even more skillful than the recently crowned champion of Formula One, Sebastian Vettel. Before you start calling Franchitti names or anything – which is probably what any Vettel fan out there would do – find out that the Indy racer is a cousin of Di Resta.

Di Resta, who spent the entire 2010 Formula One season inside Force India’s garage, testing for the Silverstone based team during the Friday action from time to time, bagged his first DTM title in career this season. In parallel to his F1 commitments, the 24-year old Scot drove a Mercedes-Benz AMG C-Klasse in the German series and won the championship crown in the last round.

He was linked with a promotion inside the Force India organization ever since this autumn, when it was rumored he had already signed a pre-agreement with Mallya’s squad to become a regular driver in 2011. However, with the Indian team taking a lifetime to decide on their next year’s lineup, Franchitti voiced his appreciation over his cousin.

He definitely has the skills,” said Franchitti in a recent interview with Germany's Sport Bild. “He is one of the most talented drivers I've ever seen. He beat Vettel in the Formula 3 Euroseries (in 2006). Sebastian is a good driver, but Paul is better,” added the Ganassi driver.

Talking about his former rival in the Euroseries, Di Resta also expressed his hopes to renew that rivalry in Formula One.

Sebastian and I have had some ding-dong encounters, and I hope and feel sure that we can continue this in the formula one arena,” said Di Resta, according to Motorsport-Magazin.com.
