Di Montezemolo Congratulates Ferrari Engineers Before Summer Break

Ferrari's Gestione Sportiva will shut down for a two week period this August, as Formula One has entered its traditional summer break following the Hungarian Grand Prix. However, before everyone leaves for their well-deserved vacation, Ferrari president Luca di Montezemolo decided to pay a visit to the Scuderia engineers and congratulate them for the work well done in the past few weeks.

It was a very busy July, which ended in a very nice way for us. Especially when you look at where we are today, compared to one month ago. For this, I wish to thank our entire workforce, because they put in so much effort to achieve these results,” said the Italian boss.

During the past couple of races, Ferrari recorded a 1-2 finish in German and scored a podium finish through Fernando Alonso in Hungary. Additionally, at the scene where he almost met death a year ago, Brazilian driver Felipe Massa finished 4th overall. An amendment to this last race in Hungary would be that, before the start, the Red Bulls were a full second faster than the Ferraris in qualifying. Therefore, 2nd and 4th could be regarded as a great weekend for the Scuderia at the Hungaroring.

Di Montezemolo also hinted that some of Ferrari's problems earlier in the season have been caused by “some perplexing decisions” - needless to say, the Italian is referring to some of the decisions issued by the FIA stewards over the course of this season – but is happy that the Maranello team is well positioned within the title fight.

This is the Ferrari I like to see and the one our fans want to see: a team that can fight and deliver the results. We must continue like this and then see where we are at the end. We know we must work even harder and with determination on the development of the car, but our people don’t need me to tell them that,” concluded Di Montezemolo.

The meeting was attended by Ferrari's team principal Stefano Domenicali and race driver Fernando Alonso also, Felipe Massa being already on his plane back to Brazil for the summer holiday.
