Revered designer Pierre Terblanche joins Confederate Moorcycles. Known by most by his work for Ducati, Pierre Terblanche is the man responsible for the 999, one of the biggest steps in design for the Italian manufacturer.
Loved by some and hated by some, too, the Ducati 999 was one of the first coherent steps towards the modern, aggressive design we now enjoy today with the "red machines". Pierre Terblanche has also created other iconic Ducati bikes, with the Multistrada and Hypermotard being just the most popular two sporting the unmistakeable trademark lines.
Pierre Terblanche has also worked for Piaggio and Moto Guzzi and Norton, but it seems like his ideas are too rebel and sometimes, too radical for bikes which are striving to remain faithful to the old-school attire.
However, it looks like Confederate Motorcycles is one of the best places to be for such imaginative and rad way of seeing things. Confederate CEO H. Matthew Chambers says there's nothing no to like about Terblanche: “(he) is a rebel who by nature is dissatisfied with the status quo, and this is imperative in advancing Confederate’s iconoclastic design precepts."
On the other hand, Terblanche is happy, too: “I’m relishing having the man who takes the big decisions being in his office just the other side of the factory floor from where I’ll be working. Plus, in doing business, Americans have a refreshing can-do attitude where the glass is always half-full."
If you thought Confederate bikes were groundbreaking and intriguing, just wait a couple of years to see Terblanche's approach to intrigue...
