We've been waiting to have fun with this story for about a week but never got a chance to. Since this has been a slow news day, it's time for some giggles.
On March 8th, AutoCar published a story suggesting Mercedes was going to build a crossover the size of a Volkswagen Polo that also evoked the now 34-year-old G-Class design. This is in line with previous reports, but AutoCar managed to add some credibly with a name for this mystery model: City-G. They also said it would be co-developed with alliance partner Renault-Nissan.
For anybody who's ever looked at or driven the VW Polo, this idea is kind of funny. How small can a crossover get before it's no longer a crossover?
Automotive manipulator Theophilus Chin also had a few giggles with this idea and decided the best way to render such a car is to chop and shop a Suzuki Jimny. If the City-G looks anything like this, we'd tell Mercedes to get lost. However, they've made almost perfectly designed cars in recent years, so we don't think they'll disappoint.
