Daytona Night Race, in 3D

NASCAR, together with media giant Turner Sports announced yesterday the most watched sport in the US will be broadcast, for the first time, in 3D, both on NASCAR.com (through TNT RaceBuddy) and on DirecTV. The downside is that, for you to be able to enjoy the experience, you will need a 3D TV or PC display with matching 3D glasses. The good news is that the Daytona race is scheduled to take place on July 3, so there's still time for you to buy the required gear.

"One of our goals here at NASCAR is to continuously explore ways to improve the viewing experience for our fans," Jay Abraham, NASCAR Media Group CEO said in a release.

"Offering the Coke Zero 400 in 3D on NASCAR.COM and select television distributors is a great example of that consistent exploration. Our fans have been asking us about 3D for several months so we're excited to deliver that to them for the first time ever in what will likely change how NASCAR is consumed moving forward."

To give you a better idea of what NASCAR has up its sleeve for the 3rd of July, it's enough to say there will be two custom racing feeds broadcast: the first will give you a look at the race from cameras around the track, while the second will bring you a 3D image of the pit row.

"We see this as an opportunity to showcase our marquee primetime race in Daytona through our signature Wide Open format on TNT, as well as to learn more about 3D through this unique presentation online at NASCAR.COM and through DIRECTV," Lenny Daniels, Turner Sports EVP and COO added.

Since we're sure not many of you got your hands on a 3D TV yet and we know most of you already have a PC, below are the minimum system requirements for you to experience a NASCAR race in 3d:
