We're pretty positive the Darwin Awards will end up with a special category dedicated to motorcycle riders whose dumbness exceeds the human power of understanding and seem to reach unfathomable boundaries. It's the case of yet another French rider in the region of Finistere (west of France), whose high-speed leisure ended up in less pleasurable circumstances.
The chap was riding his supersport Gixxer (Suzuki GSX600R) close to the bike's top speed on a road near Quimperle, when the local Gendarmerie heard the huge noise caused by the revved-up engine and decided to stop him.
Upon pulling the fellow over, the cops found an onboard camera the rider was using to film his high-speed bravado. Examining the footage, the police officers were thrilled to see exceptional proof for the guy doing a hefty 271 km/h (168 mph) on a section of the road with an 110 km/h (68 mph) limitation, and pulling hard on the throttle to 227 km/h (141 mph) on a 90 km/k (56 mph) section.
Trying to escape the legal consequences, the 22-y.o. rider claimed it was the first time he was using the camera and got distracted. We could not tell whether the cops found his explanations plausible or not, but they confiscated the bike on site as is accustomed in such cases in France, seized his camera, canceled his license for the next 6 months and invited him to court. Maybe he will not do jail time, but the fine will definitely be in the Darwin Awards ballpark.
