Daimler to Register Record Profit of $2.5 Billion

It is not uncommon for Daimler to register good sales figures, as it has had an amazing succes since its early beginnings. Now, the company has posted a net profit of $2.5 billion for the second quarter of the year, bypassing most estimates and increasing by 30 percent on the same period of last year.

The astounding figures were mostly as results of increased demand for Mercedes-Benz vehicles. The luxury brand managing to increase its sales up to 357,600 units for this year’s quarter, meaning a rise on last year’s already record levels of 342,500 units. The manufacturer’s success was also attributed to the continuous demand for Mercedes-Benz C-Klasse as well as the S-Klasse flagtrip sedan and the new SLK roadster.

A strong demand was registered in China where the German manufacturer has to find a way to keep up with the demand. Daimler also made the announcement that the next-generation B-Klasse, will be launced in November and should help boast the company’s sales figures even higher. As a total, Daimler’s revenue increased by 5 percent to $38billion for the present quarter, maintaining this way a steady course towards yearly revenues in excess of $145 billion

“With our excellent first half of the year, we are fully on schedule to turn 2011 into one of the most successful years in our long corporate history. We now assume that Group earnings will develop more positively than we previously expected and will very significantly exceed the level of 2010.”
Dieter Zetsche Daimler CEO was quoted as saying by mothorauthority.com
