Dacia has just released the official pricing information for the UK-bound Sandero. As we were expecting, the price of the base car is extremely low, starting at just £5,995. The most basic trim is called Access, and it gives you a 1.2-liter 75hp petrol engine, steel wheels and bare-plastic bumpers, mirrors and door handles.
Ambiance trim costs an extra £800, yet it adds desirable features such as body-coloured bumpers, central locking (yes, the basic car makes full use of the key to open its doors), electric front windows and Bluetooth connectivity. Pay an additional £1,100 and you gain air-con, cruise control and fog lights, while an extra £475 gets you metallic paint.

If you want 15-inch alloy wheels, you`ll have to pay an extra £425, parking sensors and sat-nav each cost £175, while faux-leather upholstery is £600. Even the central armrest is optional, and costs an extra £90. Engines-wise, aside from the basic 1.2, the Sander will come equipped with Renault’s latest small-capacity motors.

The most interesting engine on offer for the Sandero is easily the 0.9-liter three-cylinder TCE90 engine - a Sandero in Ambiance trim, with this engine fitted costs £7,595, while the 90 hp 1.5-liter dCI engine adds another £1,000 to the price. A top spec diesel car, with all the options boxes ticked will set you back £11,630 - still a very attractive deal. Yet we will have to wait before casting a final judgement on whether or not Dacia can take on the full brunt of the UK car market.
