CTS Does Not Make Pedals for Prius and Lexus

With new disturbing information pointing to both accelerator pedals and brakes failing on Toyota's Prius, American supplier CTS stepped forth and decided to prevent any other unwanted connections between it an the recent Toyota nightmare. In a statement released yesterday, CTS says it has nothing to do with the new problems, as it does not supply pedals for the Prius, nor for the pre-2005 Lexus models in Toyota's lineup.

"CTS Corporation today stated that with new media attention around Prius vehicles, CTS wishes to clarify that it does not, and never has, produced pedals for Prius vehicles."

"Last week, CTS also clarified that it never made pedals for Lexus vehicles or for any Toyota vehicles prior to model year 2005. Both Lexus and Prius vehicles have been identified in the media as having allegedly been involved in accidents and injuries from sudden unintended acceleration issues."

The clarification was necessary after Apple's co-founder, Steve "Woz" Wozniak went public yesterday with the problems he experienced while driving his Prius. As does CTS, Wozniak did not blame the pedal, but some type of software glitch.

"Since my foot never touches the pedal, the problem cannot be a sticky accelerator pedal.... There might be some bad software in there."

"The car will start to accelerate in cruise control. You can hit the brake to stop it," he told CNN. "Maybe it's scary for the first time for a couple of seconds, but once you know about it, it's not like I think it's life threatening."
