"What's a teaser?" Cristopher Walken asks in BMW's… teaser. The German carmaker is one of the few to advertise during the Super Bowl this year.
The 15-second video teaser titled "Agent" starts with Christopher Walken… walking through a lobby, with his back to the camera, while talking on the phone, presumably to his agent. He is heard asking: "What's a teaser? An ad for an ad? Why would they do that?"

They would do just that because we are not supposed to see BMW's Super Bowl commercial just yet. It is set to be aired on February 5, so there are still four days to go. All we get for the moment is this early preview that makes fun of the teasers.

BMW announces that there is another one coming before the actual ad, which will cover one minute of the commercial time during the Big Game on February 11. The teasers and the commercial will be shown on BMW's social media networks such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, but also on the YouTube and Roku platforms.

It remains to be seen which of the latest BMWs will star in the advertisement alongside Christopher Walken. Yesterday alone, the carmaker unveiled the electric BMW i5 xDrive 40, the 500e xDrive plug-in hybrid, facelifted 4 Series Coupe and convertible, the updated M4 line, and the Z4 M40i with a six-speed manual transmission. And there is more where those came from, the brand announced.

With the new 5 Series hitting US dealerships, that might be the car Walken will promote during the Super Bowl ad break. February 11 marks BMW's comeback to the Super Bowl after a one-year hiatus.

The commercial was directed by Bryan Buckley, who labeled as the King of the Super Bowl after he was the director of several ads that aired during the Super Bowl over the years. Buckley is also an Academy Award nominee. The spots are produced by agency partner Goodby Silverstein & Partners (GS&P).

Cristopher Walken is expected to put on quite a show, considering he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Role in the 1978 "The Deer Hunter" and received a nomination for the same award for his part in "Catch Me If You Can."

Furthermore, this is not the first time Walken will be showing up in a video ad aired during the Big Game. Back in 2016, he starred in the spot titled "Walken Closet," which promoted the Kia Optima with a memorable monologue about mediocrity. In 2017, he showed up in an ad for the beverage Bai alongside Justin Timberlake.

BMW is one of the four carmakers to air commercials during the Super Bowl this year. Toyota will be advertising for the Tacoma, Kia will show off its EV9 SUV, while Volkswagen decided to mark its 75th anniversary on the US market on the night of the Big Game.
