Crimson Transformer Pumper, On Display at FD Conference

Taking advantage of the Fire Department Instructors Conference which opens its doors today in Indianapolis, Crimson Fire will present the Transformer pumper for fire departments. The new vehicle is the response Crimson has for the findings of a study which shows that, in 90 percent of the of emergency-response calls, the pump is never used.

"Industry statistics suggest that during 90 percent of emergency-response calls the pump is never engaged," Kevin Crump, president of Crimson Fire said in a release. "Yet fire departments must preserve the ability to fight major structure fires while meeting the growing need to provide emergency response."

The pumper features 1,250 gpm PTO integrated pump manufactured by Darley, a 750 gallon water tank, aluminum body construction with multiplex electrical system, smart power 6 kw hydraulic generator and Vibra-Torque mounting system to minimize vibration.

The Transformer is built on a Spartan Metro Star chassis and is powered by a Cummins ISL diesel engine developing 425 hp. Optionally, Crimson offers compressed air foam system, 1,250-1,500 gpm PTO-integrated pump and pump-and-roll capabilities. The vehicle can come on either an 178-inch wheelbase or on an 168 inches one.

"As with all Star Series vehicles from Crimson Fire, our new pumper with integrated pump is a custom apparatus tailored to the specific needs of each department," Crump added. "Our goal is to provide a custom solution to an evolving need."
