Earlier today we brought you news about LMR’s 2014 Corvette Stingray being able to run a 9-second quarter mile. Fast enough for a mostly stock sportscar, but not good enough to beat the ZR1 you’re about to see below.
We’re talking about Eric Lancaster’s stock bottom end Corvette ZR1 that managed to complete a quarter mile run in only 8.92 seconds at 156.25 miles per hour (251.46 kmh). Although it looks slower on the outside, this Vette was fitted with a set of Mahle Motorsports pistons and a number of other high performance GM parts.
Interestingly enough, the ZR1 is still using an independent rear suspension, so we can only image the amount of work put into the powertrain to enable it to run an 8-second quarter mile. Scroll below to watch Eric Lancaster do his magic.
