If you fancy giving yourself a 15-ton battle robot as a birthday gift, then the MegaBots Eagle Prime might be just the thing you’re looking for. The contraption is currently for sale on eBay as the company that operates it went bust.
The announcement the robot is for sale was made by the company last week, when they also decided to start the online bidding process at $1. About seven days later, at the time of this writing, the largest bid sits at $152,000.

The Eagle Prime is one of the few – if not the only – operational, piloted battle mechs in the world. It is powered by an engine that is usually found on the Chevrolet Corvette C6, the LS3 V8 that develops 430 horsepower. Just like the mobile weapons systems from Pacific Rim, the Eagle Prime needs two pilots to control it.

In the eBay add, MegaBots say there’s nothing wrong with the robot, despite the very low starting price, as it is being auctioned off because "the company is bankrupt.” There are some issues with the machine, though.

First, because of the immense weight of the contraption, the plastic pads used to dress the tracks are worn out and they will only last for about 40 more hours of driving on concrete. Replacing them will cost about $7,000.

Secondly, despite being a tracked vehicle, the robot doesn’t perform well on dirt.

And last, but not least, “it will usually spring a hydraulic leak maybe every 4 hours or so of driving and crushing.”

If you can live with those issues, that this robot, which cost an estimated $2.5 million to build, can be yours. If you bid high enough, will get it complete with spare parts (radiator fans, filters, fuses, cables, and connectors) and extra weapons attachments.
