Concorso d'Eleganza to Witness Bertone, Morgan and Zagato Concepts

One of the most extravagant auto events on the automotive agenda, the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este will host three world premieres (from builders Bertone, Zagato and a retro sports car from Morgan) and a further five concept cars.

Stile Bertone will present a lightweight carbon fiber, V8 engine powered vehicle, said to replace the B.A.T 11. The concept is a two seater whose skin "observes the laws of aerodynamics," as BMW Group says in a release.

Morgan will also be presenting a two-seater at the Concorso, on the Morgan Aeromax platform. The concept marks the centenary of the tradition-steeped British brand. In addition, Zagato's concept comes as a way of celebrating the 90th anniversary of the family tradition.

The event will also witness the designs of other manufacturers, some of which we have already seen at the 2009 Geneva Auto Show. BMW Gina Light, Infiniti Essence, Rinspeed iChange, Aston Martin One-77, Fisker Karma S will all attend the show in a display of unique creations.

To qualify for entry in the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este concepts have to be driveable and no older than three years. The winner will be chosen not by the jury but by the public, following the tradition going back 80 years, as since 1929 the public was already ranking the showcased models according to their looks.

The event will start on the 24th of April and will last all weekend long on the grounds of the Grand Hotel Villa d’Este and Villa Erba in Cernobbio on Lake Como. It is the tenth consecutive year the Concorso is taking place under the patronage of the BMW Group.
