Close Call: Scion FR-S Barely Misses Deer During Shoot

Deer strikes are no laughing matter! People can die if thy lose control of the car after striking a wild animal, and in Scandinavia they test cars to see how they would cope, since there are so many wild animal creeping out of the forest and onto the road.
But the close call we’re talking about happened in Northern California, where Scion’s Jen Gushi was behind the wheel of the new FR-S during a commercial shoot. He was going about his business in the mountain twists, when he had a very close encounter with a deer.

Fortunately, he saw the deer with the corner of his eyes and so he had time to brake hard, which probably saved both of them.

We’ll remind you that the FR-S is a brand new sports coupe, powered by a 2.0-liter 200 horsepower boxer engine from Subaru.  Sales of the 2013 Scion FR-S will start in the spring of 2012.
