Chrysler Financial Results Reveal $652M Loss in 2010

Just as expected, the financial results for 2010 posted today by American auto maker Chrysler revealed a loss for the company, even if, overall, it was a smaller one than anticipated. The manufacturer's papers revealed a net loss of $652 million, coming from net revenues for the year of $41.9 billion.

This means that the company's Modified Operating Profit stood at $198 million in Q4 2010 and $763 million for the entire year 2010. Overall, the results are being seen by Chrysler's top brass as being positive, with the outlook for the year ahead leaving room for hope of profit.

“As Chrysler Group’s brand displays at the Detroit auto show confirmed, the Company has lived up to its promise to launch 16 all-new or significantly refreshed vehicles in the past 12 months. All of these vehicles bear testimony to Chrysler’s rebirth,” said Sergio Marchionne, Chrysler's CEO.

“Given the positive comments we have received to date, it can safely be said that what Chrysler delivered last year, on both the product and financial fronts, surpassed many expectations. However, our job is not yet done. We have a lot of work ahead to fulfill our five-year business plan objectives.”

In the first decade of the month, Fiat, the company which helped the American manufacturer get back on its feet in 2010, increased its stake in Chrysler to 25, following the performance-related milestones reached since the takeover.

It is with Fiat support and guidance, as well as tech, that Chrysler plans a major comeback both in the US and in Europe for the years ahead.
