When it comes to quality and reliability, we all know that Toyota does a great job on producing such vehicles, but it looks like there is a rival rising fast.
Chrysler Group is sure that the quality gap between their cars and the Japanese automaker’s has become so small that consumers won’t have trouble orienting towards the American models.
"We still benchmark Toyota," says Doug Betts, Chrysler's senior vice president of quality. "Toyota's very good at reliability. I believe that we have gotten close enough on reliability to Toyota that it shouldn't be a reason for somebody not to buy our cars."
Chrysler Group scored top positions in four of 21 categories last week in the Strategic Vision’s annual Total Quality Index survey with its Doge Dart and Durango, Chrysler 200 convertible and Town & Country minivan. The survey was performed on 17,568 buyers of 2013 vehicles and focused on their perception of quality, overall performance, driving characteristics and styling being the main attributes being measured.
