Some months ago, when the fracas happened, and Jeremy Clarkson was suspended, one of the possible future hosts to replace Jezza was The Chris Evans Breakfast Show presenter. When asked, the 49-year-old radio producer declined the rumors. It appears that has changed now.
UPDATE: Until there’s any official confirmation we can’t consider it a fact. However, that didn't stop Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May to have their fair share of rumors on Twitter. Judging by their posts, it's safe to assume they found the news rather amusing.

This is not true. Not only is it not true – it’s absolute nonsense,” said the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show presenter. Here we are, a couple of months later, hearing the same man saying something about a “secret Top Gear” the BBC is working on that is soon to be disclosed. Evans made the random announcement while being on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch show.

This may come as a surprise to some, but the DJ has been among the favorites to take over from Jeremy Clarkson on the famous car show. Evans said that he will be filming a “Top Gear sequence” with an independent production company on Tuesday.

The Sunday morning show's host Tim Lovejoy then asked the radio producer whether he had started to present Top Gear already, to which Evans replied that it didn’t happen yet. It may not be an actual secret anymore, but the presenter said nobody knows where it’s going to be and that “we’re going to make one and see how it goes”.

Is this the new Jeremy Clarkson?

As we previously reported, chances the other two members of the gang will accept BBC’s two-year contracts that were rumored to be worth millions are close to zero. Both Captain Slow and The Hamster have been going on with their Clarkson, Hammond and May Live tour that was performed with sold-out arenas. Meanwhile, broadcasting companies such as Netflix and ITV keep teasing the trio to make a proper a TV comeback.

If we were to place a bet, we'd say there are bigger chances for the BBC to go with their other rumored plan, which is to include a different guest host on each show rather than directly replacing Clarkson. However, since Hammond and May will probably stay with Jeremy, we can’t quite see how Top Gear will ever again be the Top Gear we all miss.
