Radio DJ and TV presenter, Chris Evans, a big car fanatic and huge celebrity in the UK, decided to try and raise as much money as possible for BBC Children in Need, offering his classic Mini up for auction at CarFest by Silverstone Auctions.
The car is actually a 1964 Austin Mini Mk1 and is estimated to be worth between  £6,000 to £8,000 ($9,200 to $12,200) without mentioning his name. However, once the car will be auctioned, prices are expected to go a little higher.

“It’s a lovely little car in its own right, but this 1964 Austin Mini has the added attraction of once being the pride and joy of household name Chris Evans. I’m sure that this celebrity status will add to its appeal, although the lucky new owner will struggle to listen to Chris on his popular breakfast radio show on their way to work as it doesn’t have a radio!" said Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions.

The car was professionally restored in 2003, now has an enlarged engine (from 850cc to 998cc) and a set of critical upgrades like disc brakes, a new exhaust, dry suspension and original British Leyland straight cut gearbox to name just a few.

Chris is very well known around the automotive industry as a big Ferrari fan, actually paying record money for a couple, like a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder (formerly owned by US actor James Coburn) that held the world record for the highest price ever paid for a car at auction, costing over €6.4 million.

However, he destroyed his own record 7 years later when he bought yet another rare Ferrari, this time one of 36 built Ferrari 250 GTOs, paying an sky-rocketing price tag of £12 million ($18.4 million).
