While some manufacturers are swapping chrome accents for glossy black plastic, or faux-carbon fiber, or faux-aluminium trim pieces to spice up the exterior of their cars, the Chinese branch of Ford is doing the exact opposite. The car which is getting this extra shiny treatment is the made-in-China Ford Mondeo, which gets an overly-shiny chrome grille and equally shiny fog light accents.
If you will take a look at the photos posted here, courtesy of auto.sohu.com, you will undoubtedly notice the level of shine exhibited by the grille. Then check out the European version of the Mondeo, as well as the American version, which bears the Fusion name - the chrome on those cars is less shiny!

It is interesting to see how Ford is adapting the Mondeo for the specific needs of the various markets it is sold on. Set to be officially unveiled in April or May of this year, the Chinese-made Mondeo plans to take a big chunk out of the compact exec and family sedan sectors, taking on both less expensive rivals, as well as more premium offerings from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Audi and Jaguar, despite not being a direct competitor.
