With Chinese cars being notoriously unsafe and poorly designed, they never really appealed to Europeans. This may all change with the Chinese automaker Brilliance’s recent hiring of ex-Pininfarina designer with over 15 years of experience in the field, Dimitri Vicedomini.
The cars made by Brilliance weren’t as dreadful as some of the other manufacturers, with cars above the Chinese average of design prowess, the figured they needed an edge over the competition. Having used Vicedomini’s services before, with the design of the BS4 Splendor (pictured above) and the Zhonghua H53.

Vicedomini is not the first designer to be scooped up by the Chinese automotive industry, following the hiring of former Ferrari designer Leonardo Fioravanti by the Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Corp, and the hiring of former Volvo designer Peter Horbury as design chief at Geely.

Judging by all of the above, we may have genuinely good looking Chinese cars soon...really soon!
