Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Concept Revealed

General Motors presented the Silverado ZR2 concept, a model that features a widened body, tall stance and a powerful LS supercharged engine, as the company said in a press statement.

The most attractive things on the concept is however the numerous carbon-made parts that are obviously reducing weight and contributing to the final performance of the car. The truck's body is almost entirely made of carbon fiber, including the front fenders, the extractor-style hood, the rocker extensions and tailgate.

The concept is based on an extended cab - short box body, with many of its carbon fiber parts being clear-coated and not painted. This "shows off the intricate weave patter of the high-tech, lightweight materials," GM explained in the release.

There's a new, larger grille available on the concept. Its main role is to cool the engine which, according to official specs, produces a maximum power of 550 hp. It is provided by GM Performance Parts, the company said.

"There's more to this concept than meets the eye," said said Brent Dewar, vice president, Global Chevrolet Brand. "Some of the components are being explored for possible inclusion in upcoming models."

Other features including 20-inch BBS RD wheels, Goodyear Wrangler MT/R tires, BDS shocks, four-inch lift kit, carbon fiber details on the dashboard, black leather and suede-trimmed seats.

Obviously, some of you might think that such a model has zero chances to enter production as the current economic climate is far from being friendly for this concept. Nonetheless, GM hasn't mentioned whether it really intends to push the car in production so further information will be provided soon.
